About the Owner

After a quick stint in the US Marines, Scottie came home with an interest in mechanics. The only prior experience he had with HVAC was helping out his stepdad occasionally throughout high school. He started with a local Richmond residential HVAC company and caught onto the trade very quickly. After training for a couple of years as an Installer, he moved on to another local Richmond company and started  working on bigger commercial jobs, like the West Point paper mill. He apprenticed as an Installer under another employee who felt his job to was to get the newbies to quit; it's a hard trade and not everyone it cut out for it, but Scottie worked hard, learned fast, and continued building his experience and skills year by year.

 

He jumped to a start up HVAC company and saw how things were built from the ground up, and his interest in running a business was starting to emerge. He gained experience as a Service Technician, as well as continuing as a team lead for full installs and equipment change-outs. Fast forward to COVID-19 when he moved out to Tappahannock, VA for a little more space than the city. He quickly went to work for a company in the Northern Neck, but left frustrated after only a few months of their "spreadsheet pricing."

 

Burnt out on residential, he went back to his commercial HVAC with a large, national company as a Service Technician.  But he couldn't stay away from Residential HVAC for long and quickly started a side business helping friends, family, and referrals with their HVAC issues. At this point, he was ready to make the leap to Small Business Owner. After 10+ years of learning, sharpening his skills for both Installing equipment and Servicing existing equipment, Scottie is a licensed Mater HVAC Technician with a Class A Contractors license as of 2022.

Scottie is a lifelong hunter and animal conservation supporter.  He named the company in honor of the Woodland Hunt Club he has been a part of since he was a kid.
